PHT 1007 - Topics in Physical Therapy


3 Credit Hours
(Spring)

An introduction of the physical therapy profession, to include the history, ethics, settings, trends and professional issues. Delineation of the roles of the health care team, physical therapy personnel, and communication skills required as a healthcare provider. Various regulatory agencies, practice rules and regulations are also included. The student will also explore the psychological and sociological effects of disabilities, including the impact of culture and economics on the patient and family. This course requires a grade of C or higher. Admissions to the PTA program is required.

Prerequisite(s): Admission to the Physical Therapy Program.
