College Accreditation

Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)

Northwest Florida State College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award associate and baccalaureate degrees. Program Accreditations

Dental Assisting (CCP)

The program in dental assisting is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation and has been granted the accreditation status of “approval without reporting requirements”. Elementary Education (BS)

Northwest Florida State College is approved by the Florida Board of Education to offer the Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, which leads to state certification in teacher education. Law Enforcement (CCP)

The following NWF State College instructional programs are certified by the Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission (CJSTC) through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE). Medical Laboratory Technology (AS)

The Medical Laboratory Technology program at Northwest Florida State College is currently seeking accreditation through the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science.

Graduation from a medical laboratory technology program accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science is necessary for eligibility to sit for all national certification exams and for Florida licensure. Submission of an accreditation application does not assure that the program will be granted accreditation status. In order to be considered for accreditation, the first cohort of students must fully complete the two year program. This cohort will be allowed to sit for certification exams when the college achieves NAACLS serious candidate status prior to their graduation. 

Physical Therapist Assistant (AS)

The Physical Therapist Program is currently pursuing accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).

Graduation from a physical therapist assistant education program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE), 1111 North Fairfax Street, Alexandria, VA 22314; phone (703) 706-3245; accreditation@apta.org is necessary for eligibility to sit for the national licensure examination, which is required in all states.

Effective November 3, 2020, Northwest Florida State College has been granted Candidate for Accreditation status by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (1111 North Fairfax Street, Alexandria, VA, 22314; phone: 703-706-3245; email: accreditation@apta.org). If needing to contact the program/institution directly, please call 850-863-6511 or email pta@nwfsc.edu. Candidate for Accreditation is an accreditation status of affiliation with the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education that indicates the program may matriculate students in technical/professional courses. Achievement of Candidate for Accreditation status does not assure that the program will be granted Initial Accreditation.
