This program offers a broad foundation of knowledge and skills to prepare students for employment in the welding industry.

A student wishing to be admitted into the Welding Technology – Advanced certificate program at Northwest Florida State College must meet one of the following prerequisites: 

  1. Have completed a Welding Technology certificate program at an accredited institution. OR
  2. Possess an AWS certification or a company sponsored weld certification, in plate welding using the SMAW process OR
  3. Demonstrate their abilities by passing a SMAW plate weld test to AWS standards

Selective Program Admissions

Certain programs are labeled as “selective” and require applicants to fulfill additional requirements before being accepted. Furthermore, there may be a limited number of available seats in the program. Please review the additional criteria provided below and visit the program’s website for any further information.

The applicant must 1) earn a Postsecondary Education Readiness (PERT) score that demonstrates college readiness or 2) pass Tests of Adult Basic Education (TABE) with a completion level 10, unless otherwise exempt.
