SYG2000 Sociology -

3 Credit Hours



(Fall, Spring, Summer)

An introduction to the basic theories, concepts, and descriptions of individuals, groups, and societal behaviors. Basic themes include an overview of culture, socialization, deviance, and social institutions, with an emphasis on the dynamics of families, government, and economic influences. Course readings will be derived from the western canon. In addition and to the extent possible, the course will provide instruction on the historical background and philosophical foundation of western civilization and the American democracy.
