PHI2600 Introduction to Ethics - 3 Credit Hours
(Fall, Spring, Summer)
Ways to frame and resolve ethical issues are studied. Major historical theories including consequentialism, deontology, and virtue ethics are presented in moral arguments and narratives. Course readings will be derived from the western canon. In addition and to the extent possible, the course will provide instruction on the historical background and philosophical foundation of western civilization and the American democracy.
Prerequisite(s): a passing score on the standardized placement test measuring communications/verbal/reading achievement, successful completion of any required developmental English and Reading coursework with a grade of “C” or better, or exemption from placement testing.
