NUR1231C Nursing Process II - 5 Credit Hours
(Fall, Spring)
An introduction to the role of the associate degree nurse in providing direct, holistic nursing care to young, middle-aged and elderly adults who are hospitalized. Emphasis is on applying all steps of the nursing process with focus on assessment skills. Pre-requisite college foundation and nursing courses provide theoretical bases for nursing care. Critical thinking is an expected behavior along with skills in working ethically and effectively with peers and other health care professionals as a team member; demonstrate caring behaviors and therapeutic communication with clients as a provider of bedside, technical nursing care. The student is expected to demonstrate safe performance of basic nursing skills, e.g., medication administration, physical assessment and comfort care of hospitalized adults and nursing home residents.
