MUL1010 Music Appreciation - 3 Credit Hours ♦
(Fall, Spring, Summer)
In this course, students will survey the history of classical music from Antiquity to the modern period, focusing on Western music. The curriculum may also integrate a variety of popular and global styles where appropriate. Course readings will be derived from the western canon. In addition and to the extent possible, the course will provide instruction on the historical background and philosophical foundation of western civilization and the American democracy.
Prerequisite(s): a passing score on the standardized placement test measuring communications/verbal/reading achievement, successful completion of any required developmental English and Reading coursework with a grade of “C” or better, or exemption from placement testing.
