Academic Success Center (ASC)
The ASC is located on the first floor of the Library (Learning Resources Center-LRC), Building 500 on the Niceville Campus. We also have services available at the Fort Walton Beach Campus, the Sikes Center in Crestview, and at the Chautauqua Center in DeFuniak Springs. The ASC provides free learning support services in subjects such as writing, math, science, and many others. One on one appointments are available via walk-in and appointment (click here to make an appointment). The ASC also offers workshops, groups sessions, and online appointments via Zoom and paper submissions. For more information, call the Academic Success Center at (850) 729-5389.
Math Labs are located in the Math Building 300, Room L-131, on the Niceville Campus; in Building 7, Room 702 on the Fort Walton Beach Campus. The math labs are open to all students and provide free walk-in tutoring for all mathematics courses. For lab hours, students may call the Math Department at (850) 729-5377 or visit our website.
AmeriCorps
AmeriCorps is a component of the National Service Network. Its goal is to engage Americans of all ages and backgrounds in service to help meet communities’ critical education, public safety, environmental, and other human needs and homeland security. AmeriCorps is often referred to as the “Domestic Peace Corps”.
Full-time members serve a minimum of 1720 hours per service year. They receive a taxable living allowance of $12,630 per year while serving and a $5,815.00 education award voucher at the end of the service commitment. Other benefits for full-time members include healthcare insurance and student loan deferment and childcare (if qualified).

ATM Machines
ATM machines are located in the Activities Center, Building 410 on the Niceville Campus and in the Administration Building on the Fort Walton Beach Campus.
Barnes & Noble College Stores
NWF State College has two College Stores which are operated by Barnes & Noble College. The College Store on the Niceville Campus is located in the Activities Center, Building 410. The Fort Walton Beach Campus College Store is located in the Student Services Building. Both stores are full-service stores offering textbooks, supplies, college clothing, gift items, hardware, and software. The stores maintain extended hours during back-to-school and book buy back periods. Contact the College Store or visit the Barnes & Noble College Store website for store hours.
Career Center
The Career Center provides career planning assistance for students and the community. The Career Center offers interest and skills assessments, career information, help with resume preparation and a variety of workshops. The program assists students with making an education and training choice that will enable them to enter or reenter the workforce with marketable skills.
A new partnership with CareerSource Okaloosa-Walton has enabled us to now have a CareerSource advisor available to meet with students and community members at the Niceville Campus Career Center. Services include: job seeker services, career counseling, employment search workshops, and labor market information. Prove-It! Skills testing is also available and offers over 1,200 validated assessments for a variety of employment sectors. Phone 850.729.4994 to set up an appointment. Walk-ins are always welcome.
Students who are undecided about their future career plans are encouraged to make an appointment with their Academic Advisor or to visit the Career Center located in the Activities Center, Building 410 on the Niceville Campus (Phone 850.729.5227) or Building 2 at the DeFuniak Springs Chautauqua Center (Phone 850.200.4113) to discuss career opportunities. Selected career-related services are also available at the Fort Walton Beach Campus and the Robert L. F. Sikes Education Center.

- My Career Shines is a Career Planning tool hosted by the state of Florida and available on any computer. The NWF State College Career Center has computers available in their Career Counseling area for students to access this powerful program to set up an account and explore career, education and scholarship opportunities.
- Strong II - The Strong Interest Inventory provides information on overall patterns of interests, preferences and personal styles that can be explored for the immediate and long-range educational and career planning.
- Myers-Briggs Type Indicator - This is a personality instrument based on psychological types and temperaments. It provides information about your personality style and the way you interact with other people.
Disability Support Services
NWF State College is committed to the fulfillment of equal educational opportunities to all students. In compliance with the regulations of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, and the ADA Amendments Act of 2008, the office of Disability Support Services (DSS) exists to determine appropriate accommodations for qualified students with documented disabilities, to assist students in self-advocacy, and to educate the NWF State College community about disabilities.
Students in need of assistance are encouraged to register with DSS which is located in the Student Services Center on the Niceville campus. Appropriate documentation guidelines are located on the college website. All information is kept confidential. Students who register may be eligible for accommodations such as, but not limited to, note-taker, scribe, interpreter, extended time for testing, course substitution, use of an audio recording device and tests recorded on tape.

Students who feel that the College did not respond appropriately to their disability requirements are asked to show NWF State College the particulars of the complaint. Students should first discuss the problem with the Counselor of Students with Disabilities in an attempt to informally resolve the issue. If unable to resolve the issue informally, a student may file a formal student grievance through the office of Disability Support Services. It will be forwarded to the Dean of Students and follow the College’s procedures for filing a grievance.
Learning Resources Center
During the Fall and Spring Terms, the library is open Monday through Thursday from 7:30 am to 9:00 pm, Fridays from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm, and Saturdays from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Mary Lou O’Connor Child Development and Education Center
The College’s Mary Lou O’Connor Child Development and Education Center provides comprehensive, quality care for children ages 2.5 to 5. The center is nationally accredited and is open to dependents of NWF State College students, staff, faculty and members of the community on a space available basis. The center is located in Building 530 on the Niceville Campus and is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm. The college participates in the Florida Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) program. For more information call (850) 729-5386.

Raider Café
The Raider Café, located in the Activities Center, Building 410, on the Niceville Campus, is open Monday through Friday from 7:15 am to 2:00 pm during the Fall and Spring Terms and Monday through Thursday from 7:30 am to 2:00 pm during the Summer Term. Vending machines are available at the Fort Walton Beach Campus in the Student Services Building, Building 6 and Building 3. Vending machines are also available in the student lounge areas at the Chautauqua and Sikes Centers.
Veteran’s Success Center
The Veterans Success Center, located in the Student Services Center, Building 400 on the Niceville campus, can assist veterans and families with educational goals and transition into the workplace.
