The Aviation Airframe Mechanics certificate program provides the training leading to eligibility to test for the written, oral, and practical exams required to obtain the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Mechanics Certificate with an Airframe Rating. This program provides instruction consisting of a sequence of courses that involves the theoretical knowledge and practical laboratory training to develop the skills necessary to fulfill the FAA eligibility requirement for testing.

This training is highly intensive in developing the academic, technical, and professional skills, knowledge, and attitudes required for success in the aviation maintenance field. It is a clock-hour program that is approximately 12 months in length and is designed to meet the FAA standards, which dictate a rigid class attendance and grading policy. Subjects will include inspection, servicing, repairing, and overhaul of various airframe systems and components including aircraft structures, hydraulics, electrical and electronics, flight controls, landing gear and brakes, aircraft instruments, and cabin environmental systems.

Successful completion of the program and acquiring the FAA Airframe Certification will provide career opportunities within general aviation, commercial airlines, repair stations, airframe manufacturing, and maintenance support of military aircraft.

Important Note: To be eligible for a mechanic certificate and associated ratings, a person must be at least 18 years of age and be able to speak, write, and, and understand the English language, according to 14 CFR § 65. 71 (a)(2 )
