The student will understand sentences spoken in Spanish and involving familiar subject matter.
The student will participate in conversational exercises in Spanish limited to simple sentence patterns and everyday topics.
The student will read basic reading selections for cultural, historical, and literary material.
The student will write simple, grammatically correct sentences in Spanish.
The student will become acquainted with some of the traditions, customs, and living conditions of the Spanish-speaking people in Spain and Latin America.
The student will acquire an appreciation of the contributions to world culture and civilization made by the Spanish-speaking people.
