The student will become acquainted with major works of world literature, which deal with universal concepts and viewpoints.

The student will learn to read for ideas that have universal value.

The student will study major literary works and their authors selected from the beginning of literature through the 17th century.

The student will learn to recognize and apply literary terminology.

The student will write critical interpretations of specific literary works.

The student, in all written work, will follow the principles of composition as set forth in ENC 1101 and ENC 1102.
