1) The student will do preliminary sketches of subject matter variations before painting the composition.
2) The student will gain an understanding of the importance of planar structures related to painting objection subjects by sketching and drawing in monochromatic principle and progress to color theory.
3) The student will need to understand elements of design that are vital to any painting composition such as rhythm, marriage of contour, aerial perspective, linear perspective, size change and overlap and tension through line, color, texture.
