The student will identify time periods, geographical centers and stylistic characteristics of major art periods and movements from the renaissance to 18th century neo-classicism

The student will discuss major artists in terms of their artistic concerns and stylistic characteristics, media and principle influences

The student will develop an art vocabulary pertinent to course material

The student will recognize and discuss iconography of specified works, as well as popular iconography during various historical periods

The student will identify significant philosophical movements, religious concepts, historical figures, events and places, and discuss their relation to works of art
