The student should identify major writers from each period and the impact of social, economic, religious, and historical influences of their time

The student should recognize expression of the changing American dream of national independence and individual freedom of literature

Locate and read literary criticisms and develop the skill of critical analysis

Write original critical analysis and research based critical papers

Demonstrate competent writing skills

The student will satisfy the Gordon Rule requirement by writing 6,000 original words.
