This curriculum forms the last stage of a career ladder program progression from Emergency Medical Technician (ATD) (State CIP Code 0351090415) to Paramedic (CCC) (State CIP Code 0351090405) to Emergency Medical Services (A.S.) degree.
Selective Program Admissions
Certain programs are labeled as “selective” and require applicants to fulfill additional requirements before being accepted. Furthermore, there may be a limited number of available seats in the program. Please review the additional criteria provided below and visit the program’s website for any further information.
Students interested in pursuing this program must hold a current and valid Florida Bureau of Emergency Medical Services EMT/P (Paramedic) license. Contact the Emergency Medical Services/Paramedic program at (850) 729-5378 for more information.
The A.S. EMS curriculum includes and is made up of the EMT curriculum, the Paramedic curriculum, and the general education requirements of NWFSC. Students entering the EMT and Paramedic programs must meet additional criteria including background checks, physical exams, and drug screening). Successful completion of the EMT and Paramedic programs as well as other college requirements, enable students to apply for the Associate in Science in EMS. Civic Literacy General Requirement
Social Sciences Civic Literacy Competency Requirement
Take one of the two following Social Sciences courses required to meet the Civic Literacy Competency requirement:
NOTE: If you have not already done so, you must pass the Florida Civic Literacy Examination in
addition to completing one of the above courses to meet the Civic Literacy Competency requirement for graduation.
Core Credits
Students complete the EMS AS Core course credits by holding an FL EMT/P (Paramedic) license. Upon receipt of the student’s EMT/P license, internal articulation credits will be awarded to complete the 50 Core Credits required.

Total General Education Credits Required: 20
Total Core Credits Required: 50
Electives: 3 Credit Hours
Any 1000-2000 level course 3 credits
Total Program Credits Required: 73
