Admissions Requirement: The applicant must 1) earn a Postsecondary Education Readiness (PERT) score that demonstrates college readiness (score information)  or 2) pass Tests of Adult Basic Education (TABE) with a completion level 10, unless otherwise exempt.  

The Aviation Airframe Mechanics certificate program provides the training leading to eligibility to test for the written, and oral and practical exams required to obtain the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe Mechanics license. This program provides instruction consisting of a sequence of courses that involves the theoretical knowledge and practical laboratory training to develop the skills necessary to fulfill the FAA eligibility requirement for testing.

This training is highly intensive in developing the academic, technical, and professional skills, knowledge and attitudes required for success in the aviation maintenance field. It is a clock hour program which is approximately 12 months in length, and is designed to meet the FAA standards which dictates a rigid class attendance and grading policy. Subjects will include inspect, service, repair, and overhaul of various airframe systems and components to include aircraft structures, hydraulics, electrical and electronics, flight controls, landing gear and brakes, aircraft instruments and cabin environmental systems.

Successful completion of the program, and acquiring the FAA airframe license will provide career opportunities within general aviation, commercial airlines, repair stations, airframe manufacturing, as well as maintenance support of military aircraft.
