Admission Program Objective Code PTAP
State CIP Code 1351080601

The Associate in Science (A.S.) Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program at Northwest Florida State College is currently pursuing accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).

Graduation from a physical therapist assistant education program accredited by CAPTE is necessary for eligibility to sit for the national licensure examination, which is required in all states. Per USDE regulations, all credits and degrees earned and issued by a program holding candidacy are considered to be from an accredited program.

Effective November 3, 2020, Northwest Florida State College has been granted Candidate for Accreditation status by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (3030 Potomac Ave., Suite 100, Alexandria, VA, 22305-3085; phone: 703-706-3245; email: accreditation@apta.org). If needing to contact the program/institution directly, please call 850-863-6511 or email pta@nwfsc.edu

Candidate for Accreditation is an accreditation status of affiliation with the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education that indicates the program may matriculate students in technical/professional courses. Achievement of Candidate for Accreditation status does not assure that the program will be granted Initial Accreditation.

This program is a Selective Admission program subject to additional program policies. Policies are strictly enforced and students should work with a Student Success Navigator rather than self-advise. The admission criteria and process are subject to change; students should refer to the Selective Programs Admissions/Physical Therapist Assistant (AS) webpage for the most current information. All PTA technical courses are held at the Fort Walton Beach Campus and students are assigned to clinical practices at various healthcare facilities and outpatient clinics in the region.
