MLT 1022C - Introduction to Medical Laboratory Technology


2 Credit Hours
(Fall)

This course outlines the role of the medical laboratory technician and covers the basic principles, techniques, and vocabulary applicable to medical laboratory technology. It also provides overviews of the major regulatory agencies, professional associations, and safety practices. Students will learn basic laboratory mathematics, medical laboratory ethics, and specimen collection and handling. Admittance to the MLT program is required. This course requires a grade of C or higher. This course requires a lab fee.

Prerequisite(s): Admittance to the MLT program with the following completed: MAC 1105 - College Algebra  , BSC 1085C - Anatomy and Physiology I  , BSC 1086C - Anatomy and Physiology II   or BSC 1010C - Principles of Biology I  . A grade of C or higher is required on all courses.

Prereq/Corequisites: MEA 1040C - Phlebotomy 2 Credit Hours  , A grade of C or higher required.
