MLT 1022C - Introduction to Medical Laboratory Technology

This course outlines the role of the medical laboratory technician and covers the basic principles, techniques, and vocabulary applicable to medical laboratory technology. It also provides overviews of the major regulatory agencies, professional associations, and safety practices. Students will learn basic laboratory mathematics, medical laboratory ethics, and specimen collection and handling. Admittance to the MLT program is required. This course requires a grade of C or higher. This course requires a lab fee.

Prerequisite(s): Admittance to the MLT program with the following completed: MAC 1105 , BSC 1085C , CHM 1045C , BSC 1086C or BSC 1010C . A grade of C or higher is required for all four courses.

Prereq/Corequisites: MEA 1040C - Phlebotomy 2 Credit Hours , A grade of C or higher required.
