Accommodation Resource Center
The Accommodation Resource Center (ARC) of Northwest Florida State College is committed to providing equal access and opportunities for our students with disabilities in accordance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, and the ADA Amendments Act of 2008. The ARC helps navigate accessibility for students with disabilities by removing educational barriers and partnering with the campus community for inclusion and support.
Students in need of accommodations must be registered for courses and are encouraged to submit a request online by visiting www.nwfsc.edu/accommodations. Students who apply for services may be eligible for accommodations such as, but not limited to, assistive technology, software and equipment, sign language interpreters, live captioning, or exam time-extensions. Registered students with the ARC must renew their accommodations at the beginning of each semester by filling out and submitting an ARC renewal form located in Raidernet. AmeriCorps
AmeriCorps is a component of the National Service Network. Its goal is to engage Americans of all ages and backgrounds in service to help meet communities’ critical education, public safety, environmental, and other human needs and homeland security. AmeriCorps is often referred to as the “Domestic Peace Corps”.
The AmeriCorps NWF Environmental Stewards program provides environmental stewardship activities including the administration of an 8-month STEM curriculum to 3rd and 5th graders in Okaloosa and Walton County school districts as well as environmental restoration projects at identified at risk locations to restore, develop and maintain degraded areas within the Choctawhatchee Watershed.
12 Full-time members are recruited to serve a minimum of 1720 hours per service year. They receive a taxable living allowance of $18,000 for the 2022-2023 program year while serving. Members also receive $6,495 Segal education award (comparable to the full yearly Pell Grant Award) voucher at the end of the service commitment upon completion of contract obligations. Other benefits for full-time members include healthcare insurance and student loan deferment as well as childcare (if qualified).

ATM Machines
ATM machines are located in the Activities Center in Building 410 on the Niceville Campus and in Building 1 on the Fort Walton Beach Campus.
Barnes & Noble College Stores
NWF State College has a College Store which is operated by Barnes & Noble College. The College Store is on the Niceville Campus and is located in Building 410. The store is full-service, offering textbooks, supplies, college clothing, gift items, hardware, and software, as well as a Starbucks Coffee Shop. The store maintains extended hours during back-to-school and book buy back periods. Contact the College Store or visit the Barnes & Noble College Store website for store hours.
Career Exploration
Students who are undecided about their future career plans are encouraged to make an appointment with a Student Success Navigator or the Career Navigation office to discuss and explore career opportunities. The college offers free career assessment and exploration tools online at https://www.nwfsc.edu/career-resource-center, including Career Coach and a digital jobs and internships board.

- My Career Shines is a Career Planning tool hosted by the state of Florida and available on any computer. The NWF State College Career Center has computers available in their Career Counseling area for students to access this powerful program to set up an account and explore career, education and scholarship opportunities.
Zoghby Learning Commons
The Zoghby Learning Commons is located in the Susan Myers Learning Resources Center, building 500 on the Niceville campus. It is a centralized hub of collaborative and engaging support services for both students and faculty. Primarily home to library and tutoring services, support labs, and the Testing Center, the Zoghby Learning Commons comprises other academic support services, as well as independent and group study areas, computers, whiteboards, and printing services. Library
Library services are located on the second floor of the Zoghby Learning Commons. Also known as the Susan Myers Learning Resource Center (LRC), the library contains over 250,000 digital, print, and audio-visual resources on all curricular subject areas. Library services are open on all regular class days but may vary when classes are not in session or during the summer. Reference Services
Reference librarians are available during scheduled business hours and are ready to help students with research requests and finding resources. Call (850)729-5318 or email library@nwfsc.edu for library support.
Tutoring
Free tutoring is available for all Northwest Florida State College students on the first floor of the Zoghby Learning Commons in Niceville and at other select campus locations. Support is available for most general education courses as well as study strategies and test prep. Students can walk-in during open hours to meet with an available tutor or schedule an appointment in advance to guarantee one-on-one time with a tutor. Remote tutoring is provided via Zoom as well as asynchronous submit a paper appointments. Math and Writing Labs
New Math and Writing Labs are located on the first floor of the Zoghby Learning Commons. Active NWFSC students are encouraged to use the labs to complete coursework and spend time studying as a group or individually. Labs are always staffed with a tutor and/or instructor to help students when needed. Testing
Testing and assessment services provide comprehensive testing for both students and the community at several Northwest Florida State College testing locations. Tests administered include the Post-Secondary Educational Readiness Test (PERT), college admission tests, proctored exams, Pearson VUE testing, College Level Examination Program (CLEP) testing, Tests of Adult Basic Education (TABE), and much more. Mary Lou O’Connor Child Development and Education Center
The College’s Mary Lou O’Connor Child Development and Education Center provides comprehensive, quality care for children ages 2.5 to 5 years. The center is nationally accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Registration is open to dependents of NWFSC students, staff, faculty and members of the community (based on space availability). The center is located in Building 530 on the Niceville Campus and is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm. Raider Café
The Raider Café, located on the first floor of Building 400 on the Niceville Campus, is open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am to 1:30 pm during the Fall and Spring Terms. Vending machines are available at all of our centers and across the Niceville campus.
Veterans Success Center
The Veterans Success Center, located in building 410 on the Niceville campus. The staff at the Veterans Success Center can assist student veterans and eligible family members pursuing their educational, professional, vocational objectives, and to transition into the workplace. The Veterans Success Center is a central location for student veterans and eligible family members to initiate their VA educational benefits, receive VA specific academic advising support from a Student Success Navigator, and utilize state-of-the art infrastructure and technology in designated areas to foster success. The Veterans Success Center offers a tranquil, professional, and respectful location to create a cooperative community for student veterans and provides resources for leadership, support, advisement, and campus engagement as part of Northwest Florida State College Office of Financial Aid, not the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA).
