Modern Dance I
Course Description
This course introduces students to the art of contemporary dance through a combination of historical overview and foundational technique. Emphasis is placed on developing beginner-level dance skills, including body alignment, spatial awareness, and improvisation. Students practice dance forms and terminology while engaging in performance, research, and individual creative projects. The course culminates with the creation and presentation of an original choreographic study that reflects personal expression and an understanding of contemporary movement principles. May be taken up to four (4) times for credit.
