This program offers a broad foundation of knowledge and skills to prepare students for employment in the welding industry.

A student wishing to be admitted into the Welding Technology – Advanced certificate program at Northwest Florida State College must meet one of the following prerequisites:

Have completed a Welding Technology certificate program at an accredited institution. OR
Possess an AWS certification or a company sponsored weld certification, in plate welding using the SMAW process OR
Demonstrate their abilities by passing a SMAW plate weld test to AWS standards

Selective Program Admissions

Certain programs are labeled as “selective” and require applicants to fulfill additional requirements before being accepted. The applicant must 1) earn a Postsecondary Education Readiness (PERT) score that demonstrates college readiness or 2) pass Tests of Adult Basic Education (TABE) with a completion level 10, unless otherwise exempt.
