HIM2922 Economic Dynamics and Reimbursement Strategies in Healthcare -

This course provides a comprehensive overview of healthcare payment systems and their impact on financial management within healthcare organizations. Students will explore common methods of payment, reimbursement systems, and the challenges associated with optimizing revenue while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. Topics include medical billing and coding, insurance terminology, utilization review processes, and accounts receivable management. The course also examines government influences on reimbursement, such as Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) rulings, and strategies for growth and operational efficiency in healthcare agencies. Emphasis is placed on understanding the revenue cycle and the role of medical documentation in maximizing reimbursement.

Prerequisite(s): HSA1100 Introduction to Health Care -    and HSC1531 Medical Terminology -  ; Knowledge of basic computer and keyboarding skills strongly recommended;
