ENC 0015 - Developmental Writing I 4 College Prep Credits (Fall, Spring, Summer)
This course is designed to develop written language skills for students whose entry level placement scores do not meet requirements for degree credit (not applicable for degree completion). Basic sentence structure, paragraph organization, grammatical concepts, usage, and elementary punctuation will be emphasized. Approximately one-half of instruction will be focused on composing coherent, well-structured paragraphs. Students must pass this class with a “C” or better to move on to ENC 0025 .
Prerequisite(s): Score 50-89 on the PERT
Corequisite(s): SLS 1101 .

ENC 0025 - Developmental Writing II 4 College Prep Credits (Fall, Spring, Summer)
This course is designed to develop written language skills for students whose entry level placement scores do not meet requirements for degree credit (not applicable for degree completion). The course includes practice in writing paragraphs and essays, and provides a survey of grammar and mechanics (not applicable for degree completion). Students must pass the class with a “C” or better and obtain a passing score on the Departmental Exit Exam.
Prerequisite(s): Grade of “C” or better in or score of 90-102 on the PERT or on an elective basis score of 103 or higher on the PERT.

ENC 0056 - Developmental Writing Module 2 College Prep Credits (Fall, Spring, Summer)
This course is designed to develop written language skills for students whose entry placement scores do not meet requirements for degree credit courses (not applicable for degree completion). Conducted in a lab setting, this course is self-paced course, designed to allow students to focus on their individual grammar, usage, and writing needs to prepare for successful entry into college credit English courses (not applicable for degree completion). This course may be taken in place of ENC 0025 if a student has a placement score of 98-102 on the PERT. Students may exit Developmental Writing Module by passing the coursework and by obtaining a passing score on the Departmental Exit Exam.
Prerequisite(s): Students must score 98-102 on the PERT or on an elective basis score 103 or higher on the PERT.

MAT 0018 - Developmental Mathematics I 3 College Prep Credits (Offered as needed)
This course is designed for students whose entry level placement test scores do not meet requirements for degree credit (not applicable for degree completion). It is designed to reinforce the knowledge of operations and applications of fractions, decimals, percents, and signed numbers. An introduction to algebra will also be covered. Students must pass this class with a “C” or better to move on to MAT 0028 .
Prerequisite(s): A score of 50-95 on the PERT.
Corequisite(s): SLS 1101 .

MAT 0022 - Developmental Mathematics Combined 6 Credit Hours (Fall, Spring, Summer)
A course designed to satisfy the requirements of both MAT0018 and MAT0028 in one semester and prepare students for MAT1033A. Topics to be studied include computations with decimals, percents, integers, operations with rational and polynomial expressions, linear equations and inequalities in one variable, factoring, and basic linear graphing. This course will teach the student to understand and communicate concepts of algebra in the language of mathematics, both orally and written. Due to the nature of this course, calculators are not permitted.
Prerequisite(s): PERT score 50-95 or ACT/SAT equivalent.

MAT 0028 - Developmental Mathematics II 4 College Prep Credits (Fall, Spring, Summer)
This course is designed for students whose entry level placement test scores do not meet requirements for degree credit (not applicable for degree completion). This course emphasizes concepts, techniques, and applications of the following topics: operations with real numbers, linear equations and inequalities in one variable, rational expressions, properties of exponents, polynomials, radical expressions, and graphs of lines.
Prerequisite(s): Grade of “C” or better in or score of 96-112 on the PERT or on an elective basis score 113 or higher on the PERT

MAT 0056 - Developmental Mathematics Module 2 College Prep Credits (Fall, Spring, Summer)
This course is designed for students whose entry level placement test scores do not meet requirements for degree credit (not applicable for degree completion). This course emphasizes concepts, techniques, and applications of the following topics: operations with real numbers, linear equations and inequalities in one variable, rational expressions; properties of exponents, polynomials, radical expressions, and graphs of lines. Student may exit Developmental Writing Module by passing the coursework and by obtaining a passing score on the Departmental Exit Exam.
Prerequisite(s): Obtaining at least an 80% on the departmental final exam for MAT 0018 or a score of 105-113 on the PERT.

REA 0007 - Developmental Reading I 3 College Prep Credits (Fall, Spring, Summer)
This course is designed to improve the student’s ability to comprehend college level written material (not applicable for degree completion). Conducted in a lecture/lab setting, this course is designed to improve vocabulary, comprehension, listening, and study skills. Also covered (at a basic level) are the skills that conform to PERT standards. Activities and materials are designed to meet the students specific needs as determined by diagnostic instruments. Placement is determined by a score of 50-83 on the PERT. Students must pass with a “C” or better to move on to REA 0017 .
Corequisite(s): SLS 1101 .

REA 0017 - Developmental Reading II 3 College Prep Credits (Fall, Spring, Summer)
This course is designed to increase the student’s ability to comprehend college level written material (not applicable for degree completion). Conducted in a lecture/lab setting, this course emphasizes the development of the higher level reading skills and vocabulary needed for literal and critical interpretation of passages similar to those used in college textbooks. Students may exit from Developmental Reading II only after passing the course work and obtaining a passing score on the State Reading Comprehension test.
Prerequisite(s): Grade of “C” or better in or score of 84-103 on the PERT or elective basis score 104 or higher on the PERT

REA 0056 - Developmental Reading Module 2 College Prep Credits (Fall, Spring, Summer)
This course is designed to increase the student’s ability to comprehend college-level, written material (not applicable for degree completion). Conducted in a lab setting, this course is self-paced, designed to allow students to focus on their individual development of higher level reading skills and vocabulary needed for literal and critical interpretation of passages similar to those used in college texts. This course may be taken in place of REA 0017. Students must pass the class with a “C” or better and obtain a passing score on the end of course exam.
Prerequisite(s): Students must score 94-105 on the PERT or elective basis score 106 or higher on the PERT.
