This course emphasizes Euclidean geometry and its relationship to logic, trigonometry, and coordinate geometry. The problems, proofs, constructions, and graphs involve the following: line segments, angles, triangles, polygons, parallel and perpendicular lines, slopes of lines, circles, and similarity. Trigonometry is presented in terms of right triangle relationships. Logic is the basis for deductive reasoning in proofs of theorems. Lines and other geometric figures are graphed in the rectangular coordinate system. A minimum grade of “C” is required if used to meet Gordon Rule requirements for general education.

By methodically surveying the main periods of Western Art Music from the Medieval Period through present day, this class will bring about an awareness of music as a vital source in human life, and will aid in developing positive attitudes toward culture and the fine arts. This is a Gordon Rule writing course and is part of the college’s Writing-Across-the-Curriculum program. If used to meet AA Gordon Rule requirements for general education, a minimum grade of “C” is required. This course contains an oral communication component and may be used to satisfy the Speaking-Across-the- Curriculum requirement.

This course unfolds in two phases: a comprehensive Orientation and Education Phase (I) and a Population Service Phase (II). The two stages are designed to be synergistic in nature. Phase I helps students to develop a deeper appreciation for an underserved region of the world. Phase I will set the stage for the immersion and learning that will take place during Phase II when students will provide basic healthcare and health education to an instructor chosen underserved population in the world. Air and ground travel are required. Current/valid Florida Registered Nursing License, good health, and a clear Background Check/Drug Screen are required. An International Passport may be required. Expenses associated with the course are the responsibility of the student.
